Home

I had a great time in California. My first stop was San Francisco. I got to go to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 and also take the ferry over to Alcatraz - otherwise know as "The Rock". I also went down to LA and visited Universal Studios and Disneyland and the beach too. Took lots of photos while I was there so enjoy !!

Taking the ferry out to Alcatraz; Actual size=240 pixels wide

This was taken on the ferry over to Alcatraz "The Rock" from Fisherman's Wharf. Fisherman's Wharf and esp Pier 39 has a great buzz and atmosphere about the place. Lots of shops and stalls where you can purchase all sorts of things. I ended buy a T-shirt or two.

Busted !!!; Actual size=240 pixels wide

Oh No !! What did I do that they had to put me in jail ? *laughs* Just foolin you .. This photo was taken on Alcatraz and in one of the jail cells that the prisoners used to live in. There is this tour you can take and it is very fascinating and interesting just what life on Alcatraz would have been like. It was well worth the trip there. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

San Francisco; Actual size=240 pixels wide

A great view of the city of San Francisco that you can see from Alcatraz. I just had to take this photo as the views were just great. I didn't realise how big a city that San Francisco is till you look at it from Alcatraz.

A great photo of the Bay with the bridge in the background

Another of my favourite photos. Just couldn't resist the view so I got someone to take a photo of me with the Bridge and the Bay area of San Francisco in the background.

Crystal Cathedral

This is the Crystal Cathedral in Orange County. It is the place where they film the television show "The Hour of Power" I didn't get to go inside but got to have a photo taken outside of it.

A cute looking car

I couldn't resist taking a photo of this car. It is so cute and adorable. I took a photo of the front of it but that photo didn't turn out.

Goofy's Gas

Anyone need to fill up their car and check their tyres and water? *laughs* This was too cute - Goofy's Gas!

Rocket Rods

Rocket Rods was a new ride they had their in the TomorrowLand area of Disneyland. You basically sit in black car that is in the shape of a hot rod and it goes along like a monorail and does sharp turns. The track intertwines with some of the other rides and attractions in TomorrowLand - including Star Tours. Well worth a look.

Minnie Mouse

Now this photo with Minnie Mouse was one of my favourite photos from Disneyland. Minnie is such a cutie *smiles* I just couldn't resist having my photo taken with her *smiles*

Back To The Future - The Ride

This was definitely one my highlights for the day when I went to Universal Studios. I had such a great time and this ride - wow was it thrilling and scarey and your adrenaline goes through the roof *laughs* If you loved the Back To the Future movies then you will probably love this ride - not for the faint-hearted.

ET the Ride

This is the sign outside of ET the Ride. Sure it was a kid's kinda ride but I loved the movie when it was on video. So I thought why not ? *laughs*

T2 Terminator 3D

Terminator 2 - 3D was one of the newest attractions to Universal Studios. Thus it had such a long wait in the queue - but it was well worth it. WOW it was all in 3D with 3D Glasses. Don't want to give too much away but if you loved the Terminator 2 movie then you will love this show. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

BackDraft !!!

If you were a fan of the movie then you will love this attraction. You get transported to a warehouse where it gets quite hot and toasty. People suggest when you go to Universal Studios that you go to the Jurassic Park ride first and get wet and then dry off in Backdraft *laughs* I tried that suggestion and it worked for me *laughs* If you love feeling warm and love fires then you will love this attraction.

Hey - it's Spiderman !!

Spiderman - just one of the many super heroes that you will see walking around the theme park at Universal Studios. I couldn't resist taking a photo of Spiderman standing there trying to be a statue.

I love this photo

I really like this photo. Another of one of my favourite photos from my holiday. Has a really great backdrop behind me. Definitely worth a photo *smiles*

Hard Rock Cafe

A great photo of the Hard Rock Cafe. Just one of the several places that you will find in Universal City. Universal City has a big night life and there are lots of places to get a meal as well as socialize and go dancing for those inclined. I did feel an atmosphere about the place.

San Francisco sure is a big city; Actual size=240 pixels wide

Another great view of San Francisco. I just had to take another photo of the city.

A view from the Trams

A great view of some of the buildings in the city of San Francisco. You can see the Tram lines in the foreground. I got to ride on the Trams when I was there. A lot of fun. Reminds me of the Trams that we have here in Melbourne. The San Francisco Trams are powered by an underground cable - whereas the Trams in Melbourne are powered above ground from powerlines running above the tracks.

Toon Town - Disneyland

This is Toon Town - one of the many worlds of Disneyland. Although this area of the theme park focuses on younger audience - I still had a great time on some of the rides. *laughs*

Goofy and me

I just had to have my photo taken with Goofy. Especically because I can be such a goof myself at times *laughs*

Tomorrow Land

This is Obriter Ride. One of the feature rides of Tommorrow Land. This was my favourite of all the Lands at Disneyland. The rides were so cool and so was the Future technologies centre.

Star Tours

Say doesn't that look like C-3PO from Star Wars ? *laughs* An awesome ride - one of my favourites of the whole of Disneyland. Plus I like Star Wars so that is a bonus *smiles* This was one of the most popular rides too !

Universal Studios

This is a Signboard at Universal Studios. This photo was taken near dusk as some of the attactions had already closed for the day - namely some of the live shows. I had such a great time there. I got to go on some awesome rides and see some great sites. The Universal Studios Backlot tour was definitely one of the highlights. Even though Disneyland is probably more popular than Universal Studios - it is still very much worth going to Universal Studios. Also if you stay there till closing time or a little earlier you get to see Universal City underlights and it looks just spectacular with all the nights and illuminated buildings and structures.

DeLorian from Back to the Future

This is the car they used in the Back To the Future movies. I loved this car in the movies. On the Back To the Future ride you actually get inside one. Looks so cool seeing the car for real instead of on the big screen.

Ah there is the entrance..

This is the entrance to ET The Ride. I really liked this ride. Basically you sit on a bike and pedal your heart out as you go around the ride up and down dips and turns. Lots of really cool special effects. For those that don't want to go on the scarier and more bumpy rides then this ride is for you. *smiles*

Jurrasic Park

Jurassic Park - a great movie and also a great attraction and ride at Universal Studios. If you go on this ride then you are guaranteed to get wet by the end. Just watch your hats on the scarey bits - I lost my Nike cap on this ride *pout*

Marvel Mania

This is Marvel Mania - one of the many eateries you will find at Universal Studios. If you like the super heroes from the marbvel comics and from the cartoons then you will love this restaurant which is full of things marvel. There are also people who are dressed up in custome of your favourite super hero walking around the theme park as well. A good photo opportunity.

The Incredible Hulk

Beware of the Incredible Hulk !!

The Clock Tower

The famous Clock Tower used in the Back to the Future movies. This was one of the attractions they have for visitors to see when they go the BackLot Tram Tour.
